“What Else to Read” at Read to Them?

If you’ve visited one of Read to Them’s book pages recently, you’ve likely noticed a pretty significant change. You can now find a section called “What Else to Read” that lives below each book’s initial descriptive text. Here is what that looks like, for example, on Anybody Here Seen Frenchie?’s book page: 

As your school’s point of contact, we understand that your time is precious. We wanted to create a quick yet valuable set of recommendations, something that stokes curiosity about the book you’re currently viewing while providing three other potential options for your school. By seeing interesting recommendations associated with your current book of interest, we hope to provide credibility and solidify the confidence you have in your selection. The titles within the “What Else to Read” section could even direct you toward a more effective or appropriate book that better suits your school community. 

Perhaps you are returning to our website to seek your school’s next read aloud title. By visiting the book page of a previously selected title, our “What Else to Read” recommendations are a solid starting point to discover your next book. We made an effort to group titles with similar plots and themes, while also selecting books that fall within different age-levels for a proper selection range. Not all recommendations focus on shared plots and themes, though; they also highlight characters, subject matter, tone, and length. 

We hope to provide a new, inviting route to explore our book list, one that is delightful, accessible, and user-friendly. We kept the explanatory text brief so you can access this information and have your interest piqued quickly – and keep on clicking! We’ve tried to hone pithy phrases that highlight elements common to both titles, and that stoke curiosity about alternative books.
