Virginia Reads One Book is a Great Community Read

Virginia Reads One Book is brought to you by Read to Them, a Richmond based non-profit whose mission is to create a culture of literacy in every home. Read to Them provides resources that explain the value of reading aloud and a host of materials so that schools use can use classic children’s books to explore and celebrate literature together. Through programs like Virginia Reads One Book, Read to Them helps schools teach families how to make reading together a habit and create lifelong readers.

The Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation will join Virginia Reads One Book to Tackle Reading.

Virginia Reads One Book kicks off with a live video-cast by a Mystery Reader from the football team on February 5, the day after Super Bowl LI. Students and families at participating schools and districts will all read The Lemonade War, by Jacqueline Davies, over the month of February. Virginia Reads One Book 2018 will culminate with countless local celebrations and the chance for groups of students across the state to visit Redskins Park on Kathryn Starke’s Tackle Reading Day.
